Safety on YAARON
Last updated 31 August 2026
YAARON is for platonic plans — grabbing food, a walk, a movie, a study session — with people nearby. It is not a dating app. Use good judgment the same way you would meeting anyone new.
What we do to help
- Email verification. Every account confirms a real, working email address with a one-time code before it can use the app.
- Selfie check. Before you can request to join a plan, or accept someone into your own, you need a selfie on file — a lightweight check that there's a real person behind the profile.
- Admin-reviewed "Verified" badge. A human on our side reviews selfies and manually approves the badge — it isn't automatic, and its absence doesn't mean someone is unsafe, just unreviewed yet.
- Location stays locked until you're matched. Precise location is only ever shared with someone once you've both agreed to meet, and only for a short window around the plan.
None of this — email OTP, a selfie, or a "Verified" badge — is a background check or a guarantee of someone's identity or intentions. Treat every new meetup with the same care you'd use meeting a stranger from anywhere online.
Before you meet
- Chat in the group thread first and make sure the plan and person feel right.
- Meet in public: a cafe, a park, a busy street — never somewhere isolated for a first meetup.
- Tell a friend or family member where you're going, who with, and roughly when you'll be back.
- Get there yourself and arrange your own way home — don't rely on someone you just met for a ride.
- Keep your phone charged and on you.
During the plan
- Stay in public areas, especially for a first meetup.
- Trust your gut — if something feels off, it's okay to leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Avoid sharing financial details, passwords, or anything you wouldn't share with a stranger.
- Don't feel pressured into anything — food, drinks, activities, or how long you stay.
Reporting a problem
If someone makes you uncomfortable, misrepresents who they are, or breaks these guidelines, email us at richimonani@thestartupghar.com with their name and, if you can, their profile details. We review reports and can remove access to the app.
If you're ever in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first — in India, that's 112 — before reaching out to us.
A note on this page
This is general safety guidance, not a promise about any individual user, and not a substitute for your own judgment. YAARON facilitates introductions between users; it doesn't supervise meetups and can't guarantee anyone's behavior.
